great to have you back commenting on ...Hi Scottie,

great to have you back commenting on my blog!

The Wikipedia article on Deng Xiaoping says: "Deng was born into an ethnically Hakka Han family in the village of Paifang (牌坊村), in the township of Xiexing (协兴镇), Guang'an County in Sichuan province,[3][4] approximately 160 km (99 mi) from Chongqing (formerly spelled Chungking). Deng's ancestors can be traced back to Mei County, Guangdong,[4] a prominent ancestral area for the Hakka people, and had been settled in Sichuan for several generations.[5]"

For Sun Yat Sen is gives: "Sun Yat-sen was born on 12 November 1866.[2] His birthplace was the village of Cuiheng, Xiangshan County (now Zhongshan City), Guangdong Province.[2] He had a cultural background of Hakka[9] and Cantonese."

It then links to this interview with his granddaughter: http://www.chinanews.com/n/2003-12-04/26/376869.html

Of course this may all be wrong, I don't know. Wikipedia does present it as fact though, and I am a pretty strong believer in the accuracy of the English Wikipedia :)
Ji Xianghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03406727999722525339noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8533171043031843199.post-23156416952121616322015-08-13T07:35:18.795-07:002015-08-13T07:35:18.795-07:00Whether Sun and Deng are both Hakka is still debat...Whether Sun and Deng are both Hakka is still debatable. I have seen many different opinions on this, including claims from family members. However, I am not sure if any conclusive evidence has ever been presented.

As for the Heavenly Kingdom, Western troops did help. However, the main force that put down the rebellion was the Xiang Army, led by the scholar-official Zeng Guofan. After all, it was they who captured Nanjing. This army was a local militia that became one of the most famous military forces in the late Qing.Scottienoreply@blogger.com
